“A woman should wear fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed”-Coco Chanel
Laura Reynolds looks at some of the cheapest beauty products available
Festivals require you to lug around more than your body weight in tents, pots, clothes, toilet paper and willies, so ultimately there is not much point taking your whole make-up collection with you too. Here are some ideas on how to look gorgeous without having to carry bags full of eye liner and lip plumpers. Luckily nobody wants to see tons of fake lashes and perfectly applied pouts; instead the aim is to have that sexy, dirty rock chick look. Festivals are more Agyness Deyn than Chezza Cole, plus we are not exactly entitled to a full lit dressing room in our two man tents.
One of the most efficient ways to go about this is to take products which are multi-purpose. Tints which can be used on both lips and cheeks are always great, and so are eye shadows and eye liner duos. Additionally it is important to go for products which are cost efficient; I’d much rather be enjoying the music and hot dogs than be crying over my thirty pound lost Chanel bronzer. Brands like Sleek from Superdrug and Barry M are much better. The quality of make-up is brilliant without breaking the bank. Plus it will not be the end of the world if you accidently drop your mascara in mud.
Another important thing is packing make-up with an SPF. Standing in the blazing sun for hours will send you straight to the cancer clinic if you do not prepare. Opt for lip salves and face-products which are suited to the sun. Both Carmex and Vaseline are available with an SPF 15 and the Marks and Spencer Perfection Foundation will also shield you from the dangerous rays.
Taking things in travel size will also be useful; Paperchase sell an excellent pack of little bottles and pots to pour your shampoo, conditioner, make-up and face creams in to. This is a superb way of saving space in your bag, and gives you enough to still feel luxurious.
For all you boys there are a few tricks to get your tent rocking like some very well disguised concealers. The Clinique M Cover has sleek packaging and could easily be mistaken for a pen. Also a little tinted moisturiser will look brilliant on tired eyes.
Do not forget make-up wipes! They can be used to freshen pits and clean faces; waking up in last night’s make-up is not attractive, despite how filthy you think you can be. Crusty eyes and smudged lips are more fugly than festival.
No matter how much make-up you smother on its worth just doing things naturally, sleeping well and laughing will give you the healthy glow that no highlighting powder can give. Enjoy yourself and be gorgeous.
so useful!! thank you
