What's in your make-up bag?

Make up girl
We don't all look this good at 9am...

Ever overslept and stabbed yourself in the eye with your mascara? Wondered whether glittery eyeshadow is too much for a seminar? You’re not alone.

Scenario 1

Waking up at 9am for a 9.15 seminar after a night out, most girls have to make a snap decision about what the makeup necessities are and what can be ditched and left until returning back to halls/ house. Ponder this a second. What items would you choose when frantically rummaging through that make-up bag?

  • Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. At £6.99 for a pot, it’s good value and makes your skin look nice and smooth, also giving a good base for covering up those unwanted bags and blemishes.
  • Benefit Boi-ing Concealer. My most expensive item setting me back £16.50 a time, but trust me it is well worth the price. It last ages and does wonders for the skin.
  • Next is the mascara. I don’t really have a favourite, but the one I have at the moment cost me a fiver, and it good for elongation and thickening of the eyelashes- some va va va voom. That is Collection 2000 Big Fake Eyelashes.
  • Finally, it’s the eyeliner. I have Benefit’s Bad Gal eyeliner. And even better, I got it free from a magazine. In shops this would normally set you back £14. However if you like eyeliner pencils that are thick and can be used for a smoky eye effect, then this is the eyeliner for you. The thick pencil makes for smooth and easy application giving instant intensity to those eyes.

There are some girls I know, that are reading this thinking that they don’t care and would go out the house without any make-up on if they were late. I give serious thumbs up because I would find it very difficult to do that!

Scenario 2

This time, you are going to a seminar (and have plenty of time). There is a guy that you fancy so want to go for the “I always look this naturally good, but I actually spent an extra half an hour on my make-up” look.

I would put on the necessities, as stated above. I would then add a touch of neutral coloured eye shadow. My choice would be No 7 Stay Perfect Trio Eyeshadow. For £9.95 you get three variations of colour, and it gives subtle extra to your eyes. I would also add some Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner for £4.99. This liquid eyeliner can be put on with ease due to the thin tip but it is easy to make the line thicker if you desire. This gives that little bit extra to the eyes. Or alternatively, if you prefer to accentuate your lips, a touch of pink or red lipstick can work wonders. Just make sure you don’t choose a colour too bright.

Scenario 3

Lastly, you are getting ultra glammed up for a night out with the girls. Putting on the base, I decide to make my eyes stand out. I love Urban Decay Book of Shadows. It is expensive at £30 but there are a good range of bold, glittery colours, and included are two eyeliners and a eyeshadow baser. The eyeshadow is really easy to apply. The only downside is that an eyeshadow brush isn’t included, but no great loss.

So, what’s in your make-up bag?
