YSC Preview: Week 3

YSC Logo
Sunday, 9th May 2010

There may be a hung parliament in the world of politics but in YSC there is no denying that this week there is a showcase of some of the most popular films according to the public vote. With both Valentine’s Day and The Wolfman amassing many votes (just as Fight Club did in the battle between the classics) Week 3 sees the continuation of this term’s cracking line-up.

Fight Club – Monday, Week 3 Fight Club is arguably the most popular cult film of our lifetime, and with fantastic performances from all three main actors and that mind-bending twist it is no real wonder. As one of the few films that is as equally rewarding on the second viewing, alongside its many quotable lines, this is a true modern-day masterpiece.

Valentine’s Day – Thursday, Week 3 Being described as the big date movie of the year is no mean feat and this is in large part due to the list of stars which reads like a who’s who of the acting world. Containing everyone from Anne Hathaway to Taylor Lautner, via Shirley MacLaine and Patrick Dempsey, Valentine’s Day is a good excuse to melt into your seat and let the good feeling wash over you.

The Wolfman – Friday, Week 3 Need a break from all the vampire films that are out at the moment? Then how does a good old-fashioned werewolf flick suit you? In this remake of the classic horror film of the same name we see the spirit maintained with its artful use of suspense in lieu of blood and gore. With great performances from Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt it is only a pity that this isn’t being shown on the same night as a full moon.

York Student Cinema is in P/X/001 (Physics) and the doors open at 18:45. Tickets are only £3!
