YSC Logo
Saturday, 22nd May 2010
Wow, looks like summer may have hit us a bit earlier than many of us expected (typical considering how many of us are enduring exams and dissertation deadlines). Ah well, at least we consolidate ourselves with what is regarded as the greatest film of all time or the latest from Peter Jackson and Clint Eastwood.
  • The Godfather – Monday, Week 5

When asked to name a cinematic classic, The Godfather cannot be far from anyone’s lips. Topping ‘best of’ lists in magazines and on review sites such as Metacritic makes this the undisputed must-see film. Exerting an influence on modern cinema that is only matched by a handful of others, YSC offers you a chance to watch cinematic history.

See both The Godfather and The Godfather Part II for £5, ask at the desk for more details

  • Invictus – Thursday, Week 5

How long have we waited for Morgan Freeman to play Nelson Mandela? Well in Invictus it finally happens where, alongside Matt Damon, Freeman is able to give one of his greatest performances as a President who tries to heal the nation of South Africa after the end of apartheid using the 1995 rugby World Cup as a national flashpoint.

  • The Lovely Bones – Friday, Week 5

It’s been a while since we last saw Peter Jackson who, having personally paid to secure the rights for Alice Sebold’s novel, finally brings his vision of this powerful story to the big screen. With stunning visuals and astounding performances from Stanley Tucci and Saoirse Ronan, this much awaited film has a lot to deliver.

York Student Cinema is in P/X/001 (Physics) and the doors open at 18:45. Tickets are only £3!
