There’s something for everyone at the YSC this week with a wide range of exciting releases ranging from the dark world of superb Swedish thriller The Girl Who Played With Fire to pure comedy in The Other Guys. Furthermore, if that’s not your taste then there is also the sweet romance of Twilight: Eclipse.
The second film adaptation based upon the worldwide bestselling and now iconic Millennium trilogy. The sequel to the superb and highly acclaimed Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follows the continued struggles of brilliant sociopath Lisbeth as she attempts to clear her name of murder and exact revenge in this dark and gritty thriller. The Girl Who Played With Fire starts a whole new part of the epic story that has captivated millions worldwide, and become a truly global phenomenon.
Adam McKay, director of the ever-popular Anchorman, brings us an exciting comedic cop thriller that follows the exploits of a couple of less than reputable detectives (played by Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg). They suddenly become involved in a major investigation and are left way over their heads as they desperately try to figure a way out of their situation, leading to a string of hilarious complications. Also starring Eva Mendes and Samuel L Jackson, the film should be a real treat for comedy fans.
We give a welcome return of the extremely popular Twilight series to YSC this week. Generally regarded as the best film so far, Eclipse tells of the continuous struggle of Edward and Bella as outside forces close in and threaten to destroy them. However, with direction by David Slade (Hard Candy) and a score from Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore, this makes for an interesting film in its own right as well as a must for fans.
