Central Hall Musical Society bring an adaptation of Robert Lewis Stevenson's classic novel Jekyll & Hyde to Central Hall in Week 5 of this term. From the Society that brought you Rent (2010), The Full Monty (2009) and Sweet Charity (2008) comes a stunning performance guaranteed to send shivers down your spine and raise the hairs on the back of your neck.
In Central Hall from Thursday to Saturday of Week 5 Jekyll & Hyde boasts one of the most talented casts of the year. With many of our lead roles going to Freshers this year; including our Jekyll/Hyde played by Ali Phillips, Emma by Anna Czornyj and Florence-Anne Stratton playing Lucy, the production is full of new and exciting talent at York.
Katherine Timms makes her Directing début in Central Hall after directing in the Drama Barn and studying in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television. Timms, in partnership with Musical Director James Oliver (The Last Five Years, 2010), have brought together a fast moving, grand and musically superb production.
Central Hall veteran Richard Barker, who has managed to be in every production in Central Hall since arriving at York, takes on the choreography of the Victorian thriller. Daisy Bunyan and Florence Annan, the production's costume designers, have a considerable challenge on their hands in providing the ensemble cast with multiple costume changes all in period dress. It is produced by the trio Oliver Julian, Georgina Brown and Shona Jemphrey.
Jekyll & Hyde will transform Central Hall into the dark underworld of 19th Century London and we invite you to step into that world as we explore what is behind its façade.
