If you want a block-party, that is a rave with 60 people on several floors, then Alcuin is your college.
The largest of the colleges at York, Alcuin has over the past few years begun to cement a reputation for its huge parties.
It has by far the swishest accommodation including card-swipe security systems, internet points in rooms, automatic lighting, and lovely grand kitchens for 12 people. If you want the above then hope to get to the new blocks from L onwards. The other blocks still are a notch above much of the rest of the university.
The Alcuin bar B-Henrys is renowned for alternative events and cocktails, pioneering the first silent disco in the 2007/8 Freshers' Week.
Sport is a big part of Alcuin life and the college fields teams in all big field games as well as smaller, more off-mainstream sports.
The college is self-catered. If you live here, be prepared to be considered posh. Another line of abuse is that you're very far away from the central campus, which is to say a five minute walk.
