The Grand Opera House building dates from 1868 but it only became a serious theatre venue in 1902. Since then, its stage has seen the likes of Charlie Chaplim, Laurel and Hardy and Morecome and Wise. Over 1800 seats are available, in the Grand Circle, Dress Circle, boxes and stalls. There are four bars and two kiosks, which sell a variety of sweets and drinks. Up to five wheelchair-users can be accommodated at each performance, there is a loop system and guide dogs are welcome.
