The best and the worst of the competitors’ band names for BoB 2009.
On Friday night two of my dreams will be coming true: I will be both Hermione Granger and a Zombie.
The Yorker gives you the rundown of what's Hot and what's Not in Freshers' Fortnight.
My brother introduced me to this fabulous (Hot!) TV series over Christmas, and I have not stopped watching it since. Having begun in 2004, the advantage of this “Sex and the City for men” is that it already has four seasons, it is therefore an ideal way to discover the “real” Hollywood: what lies behind the expensive cars and wondrous houses of LA. As vintage HBO, the show relies on non-formulaic episode-construction, a great cast with nuanced characters to match, good photography, hot girls and funny cameos by stars including Jessica Alba and Mark Wahlberg.
After the tragic death of tv-links.co.uk, we thought TV-addicts would never recover. Alluc.org may have provided the occasional fix, but the quality of most videos (tudou.com mostly) left something to be desired, while peekvid.com seemed little more than a joke. Fear not, for Sidereel hath come. The site combines good links with a comprehensive interface, and that is Hot.
Planned to initially comprise of 16 episodes, production was halted by late November due to the writer’s strike (see below) There may only be eight episodes this year, but given the reinvention of the flashbacks into flashforwards, they do promise to be intriguing, action-packed and cause, as usual, an online speculation-frenzy. The premiere aired Thursday night on ABC and airs Sunday, 3rd February at 9pm on Sky One. Watch the trailer for the new season below.
Strikes are simply not hot.
The trailers of the new season available on youtube (see below) promise another great season featuring a longer-haired Chloe and a gone-back-and-gone-bad-Tony.... However, with only a third of the 24 episodes completed, the premiere of Day 7 (Season 7 of 24, for those whom have been living in a hole for the last few years) has been delayed until the show can air with few or no interruptions. How can we face 2008 with little or no prospect of "Real Time," Bauerisms (“Hang in there ok?”), systematic disregard for protocol, improbable terrorist plots, more improbable counter-terrorism plots, evil villains, not-so-evil-villains, not-so-good-goodies, and Jack's fair share of pseudo-ethical dilemmas (without bathroom breaks nor food nor sleep)?
Season 1 was wonderful and semi-revolutionary, it felt a good to think the writers knew exactly where they were going for once—with Wentworth “Sexy” Miller and the promise of romance amidst a world of violence to boot. Season 2 geared toward a reinvention of the show, in that Linc and Michael had broken out and were forced to deal with druggie FBI agent Mahone, Bellick "Reloaded" as well as a one-armed T-Bag. This season, however, started badly: Scofield back behind bars trying to break someone else out seems annoying enough in itself. No wonder the ratings are plummeting: the nonchalant killing of Sara was anything but Hot.
