It was freezing on 22 acres but the team was in high spirits, ready for a tough game, but also looking for their third win of the season. The Centurions had been training hard since their defeat at Sheffield and knew they were going to have to work hard if they wanted to prove to the league that they are a team to take seriously.
The game started with a strong offensive performance from the Centurions, with running backs Timi, 20, and Marks, 29, both making good yards. The Centurions drove the ball very close to a touchdown quite a few times in the first half but didn’t manage to get a score before the fourth quarter. The offence game continued with the strong run, Timi gained 107 yards in total, Marks gained 64. The touchdown came in the final quarter after a completed pass to Durham.
The defence put their all into the game as per usual, Pitt, 25, after two tackles had to go to hospital due to a dislocated finger. Some of the rookie players on defence put in a strong performance including Issac, with four tackles and two pass interferences, Hawkes, with eight tackles and one pass interference, and Cheshire, with three tackles including one sack.
The final score was York Centurions 7 – 0 Manchester Tyrants. The Centurions are hoping to gain more points in the next half of the season, and will be working hard over Christmas and the New Year to try and achieve this.
