Roxy highlights her choice for the perfect guys to look for this summer.
Roxy looks at whether the "other woman" is always in the wrong.
I personally cannot think of a better way to end the year than the Derwent event that is known as Big-D. This year it was based on the seven deadly sins, a theme that I can relate to very well. There had been a lot of speculation that it was going to be a disappointment and a waste of money, and not worth the hype and blah blah blah. I, however, never thought for a second that it would be rubbish.
The night is how you make it - and I had big plans to end my term with a bang.
Obviously, lots of shopping days were necessary in preparation. New outfits were picked out, and then dismissed; picked out, then dismissed again. The clothes I chose were going to be very important: I wanted people to look at me.
So yeah, that is when I decided that maybe Big-D was the event to flash a bit of flesh; after all, that is what I’ve heard most of the Derwent girls do – surely the whole point of a Club D is to dress a bit crazy? As always, I took this to a fairly extreme point and my ‘outfit’ quickly got less and less until I was pretty much just wearing accessories.
Come the much-awaited day, the atmosphere was brilliant in Derwent before the event. I even popped along to LittleD in the afternoon (once I’d recovered from my Ziggy's hangover). I could feel the excitement building. LittleD was the perfect build up to the night ahead even if rain did threaten to put a damper on things.
Me and my Derwent friends all got ready together in our absolutely brilliant outfits and found the perfect room to view the goings on of Big-D from above, along with a few drinks, of course.
When we decided we could no longer wait, we headed down to where other Derwenters were pre-drinking on the lawns. Saying that we attracted quite a few looks would be an absolute understatement. Were they in appreciation or judgement? Who really cares?
Determined not to miss anything, we tried to do a lap of the whole event and there were lots of people that I was dying to catch up with. It was the last night of term, on all accounts: this was the night to finally kiss those who had managed to evade my grasp. However, when the event is as big as the aptly named Big-D was, its hard to stay in one place with one person for very long. Personally, I enjoyed the Lust room the most: Derwent bar had been transformed into a place where naughty secretaries and page 3 models would feel right at home and I liked it.
Despite the doubts of the sceptics, Big-D turned out to be the best end to the term I could imagine. But it was definitely an event that was all in the detail. From the outfits me and my friends wore, to the very decorations inside the event, it was definitely the little things that made the night special for me.
Oh and getting a kiss on the cheek from a very fit bouncer.
As I always say, the best nights are those shared with friends. All else is secondary.
