What was your college's best moment/highest achievement in sport last term?
"The introduction of a college rugby team, although not getting great results, was a good opportunity for alot of boys who didn't represent the uni to still get involved in the sport, and all of them have put in a hell of alot of hard work and the standard has improved so much in such a short space of time!"
In which sports are you looking to improve? Are you managing to field full teams for all the minor sports?
"Some of the minor sports do struggle, with a few people who play in the major sports having to play a game in their chosen sport and then go and play in the minor sport. Particularly the sports reps themselves! We're looking to improve interest in as many of the sports as possible; in particular squash and hockey."
Which team or individual stood out as the best performing last term?
"The Table Tennis team are undefeated so far this season and are looking strong contenders for champions."
Where are you aiming to finish in the overall college sport table?
"We think we can challenge the top 3 if we get enough interest in the one day tournaments! Thanks in large part to last year's sports reps we're doing better than expected, but that just makes us want to push even harder this time round!"
What big fixtures are you looking forward to this term?
"Lizzie has a 'friendly' rivalry with the Derwent lot in anything we play them in, and all the Football boys want the college title again - they will not let it go easily! We've had massive interest in the rugby this term, and as long as the weather doesn't give us all hypothermia again we're looking at getting some revenge on Derwent and getting the 7s or 10s title!
"Plus Matt Bowyer has been training hard and following in the footsteps of the great Patches O'Houlihan in preparation for the Dodgeball crown, the most prestigious of all the one day tournaments!"
