"I'm really happy to see four candidates running for AU President" says Carter, but when prompted for her opinion on who she felt would win the vote, she was tight lipped, "it really is too close to call - I really couldn't tell you who's going to take over from me in July."
With each candidates campaign just starting, there is no real sign of who has the advantage. Later in the week, The Yorker will have in depth interviews with each of the four potential Presidents.
Last week was mixed for York in terms of BUSA knockout competitions, but Carter was particularily pleased with the football 1st team, "Men's football have done really well to get this far, especiallyafter winning their league this season after being promoted last season and losing a lot of players."
They now face a trip to UCLan where they lost 3-2 earlier this season, but the football team "will be confident." A win would see York into the semi-finals, which would be a "great achievement."
This week sees the first BUSA knockout ties for mens table tennis and both of York's mens rugby teams.
Last Wednesday saw the defeat of three York teams, which Carter was disappointed about. The badminton 1st team were always up against it as they played Leeds Met who "have a lot of good players."
The badminton 2nd team lost out to Manchester in a close game which "by all accounts it could have just as easily gone the other way."
Carter, who plays for the women's hockey 1sts, described the defeat as "gutting."
"We've had such a good season and were so confident that we could go all the way. But something just wasn't right on Wednesday - on a good day we could have dominated the game and won it easily - something was definitely missing. We went 1-0 up and it was 2-2 for most of the game, so to lose 4-2 was a bit disappointing."
This Saturday sees the college rugby 10s tournament from 12-4 on 22 Acres. Carter points to the success of last year's 7s tournament when asked how she thinks the tournament will go, "Last year the college tournament went well and it sparked an interest in rugby on campus. Some of the colleges are really taking this seriously and it's great to see such enthusiasm."
She cited that if the tournament was to act like a catalyst for a full weekly competition next year then "The rugby club will really play a crucial role in the college rugby set-up - without them it's unlikely to take off."
Fantastic, never before has the alphabet looked so delectable! You've certainly brought a new lease of life to this humble students existence...a new hope!
Can I also say in regards to college rugby I think the team that are walking round on campus proudly wearing their very own college rugby kit may have caught a spot of "all the gear, no idea"
