The performance of the day goes to the table-tennis 1st team who reached the final of the BUSA Trophy with a 9-6 victory over Bournemouth.
Jan Natolski scored York's first point of the match and Greg Price also won his opening singles encounter to leave the match at 2-2. The two repeated the trick in the next set of singles to leave the mach at 4-4.
York dominated the third set of singles as Tom Coleman, Jay Wong and Natolski gave York a 7-5 advantage. Natolski made it a perfect four wins in his last match before Wong wrapped the match up.
York now face Manchester in the final but may struggle to field a team with man of the match Natolski flying home to Germany and other players unavailable. Hopefully these struggles will be overcome and York can secure some silverwear.
The rugby mens 1sts won an enthralling encounter against Lincoln by 35 points to 14. After a cagey opening, two break away tries scored by Stacey and Nathans settled any York nerves. A superb team try, with offload after offload was then added by Arkan.
In the second half, Lincoln grew frustrated as York carried on their constant pressure and when Lincoln did have the ball, York's brilliant defence quickly put a stop to any Lincoln amibitions. Stacey added a second try before substitute Take jinked his way to the corner.
The win was greeted with optimism by the York players but also a recognition that another victory will not come without more hard work.
The women's rugby 1sts had a more comfortable route to the next round by winning 52-0, with their opponents rarely having a sniff and being destroyed by strong York running.
The mens 2nds lost out to Northumbria 63-10 to end their campaign.
In the promotion playoffs, both football 1sts and badminton 2nds won their matches to gain promotion.
The football 1sts travelled to Newcastle to attempt to win promotion for the second time this season. After taking the lead through a Rixon header, Newcastle equalised with 10 minutes remaining. With the thought of a second match in a week going to extra time, Murrills netted a late winner to send York up.
Also gaining promotion were badminton 2nds who went up after a thriller with Leeds Met 2nds. With the game tied at 3-3, Ed Chuck described it as "squeeky bum time", and the teams could not be separated in the remaining two doubles games. This meant a 4-4 draw, but York gained promotion as they had won 11 ends compared to Leeds Met's 8.
A massive congratulations to all the teams today, log on to The Yorker later in the week for all the fall out of today's action
