Molyneux 82
Molyneux's late winner was the only goal that UYAFC scored on Saturday. With the 1sts losing 1-0, and the thirds getting spanked 5-0.
Leeds started brightly and with the wind in their backs, the away side looked set for a torrid 45 minutes. However, the second team's rearguard is much improved from the start of the season, with Grayland, Worrall and Swan again dominating.
Grayland's aerial presence has completed the back three, which now has everything. "Grayland is class in the air, Swanny keeps his head and everyone calm at the back. Carl [Worrall] is the athlete of the back three, and puts himself about."
"The first twenty minutes we pretty much watched them pass it around in front of us. They looked much the better side."
"Once we'd brushed off the cobwebs from having been on the bus, we got stuck into the game and realised they weren't all that good. We used our tactics of soaking the pressure up and hitting them on the break." Said the victorious skipper.
Cox gave Remington's side the first glimmer of hope when breaking away for a one-on-one mid way through the first half. But the best chance of the first half was thwarted when Worrall cleared off the line after 'keeper Taylor misjudged the bounce.
Goalless at half time the team in white could see their opponent's heads visibly drop. With the wind now in their backs for the rest of the game, Remi Remington was able to inspire his men to go in for the kill.
Leeds dominated the second half possession, but it was York who were creating the best openings. Worrall hit the post, and Grayland must have thought the team's chances of victory had slipped by when he headed a corner wide of the back post late into the second half. The team's tactics finally paid off though, when on the break Webb put 'Molly' Molyneux in to slip the ball past the onrushing 'keeper.
The goal reinvigorated the home side, who responded well to the breakthrough. With an urgency their play had lacked in the first 80 minutes they really started to threaten. Worrall was forced to concede a free kick on the edge of the area, and Taylor had to save a one on one. Leeds' best effort though came in the last throes of injury time, when a the captain mis timed a goal kick. The Leeds midfield were quick to pounce on the mistake and the move resulted in a sharp long range effort which, fortunately for the away side, whistled past the outside of the post.
I can't bloody wait
"We're hard to beat. Since we've changed tactics we've found our best style of football, and we've really found our feet." Remington continued.
"We realised we had to hit them on the break, and soak up the pressure. We did it to perfection."
Remington's men face Manchester University next term, in the next round of the NUL cup.
"I can't bloody wait [to play Manchester]. It'll certainly be a tough one, but in our form I fancy our chances against anyone. We're so hard to beat."
What is Remington's new pre-match routine?
Taking a dump, it appears.
Not exactly the class of Lewis' journalism...
Great pair of bollocks if you ask me...
Lewis is rubbish....
Carl Worral is an athlete at the back
Not my bollocks but my hand....
George even once managed to write a whole match report without actually saying what the score was! Lewis seems to just talk about himself in his ones though.
