Alcuin 8 - 1 Derwent
Delaney (3), Cormac (2), Hyde, Cox, Cooper
A result which few would have predicted: a virtually full strength Derwent side were annihilated by an in form Alcuin side who saw a 3-0 lead disappear last week. Derwent could not have made a worse start to the match with Alcuin scoring directly from kick off with a mere 15 seconds on the clock.
This set the tone for the match with Alcuin 4-0 up within the first quarter. Alcuin turned the poor playing surface to their advantage and concentrated their attacks down the firmer footing of the flanks. This tactic paid dividends and Alcuin romped to a 6-0 half-time lead. The second half lacked the explosive scoring rate but Alcuin showed similarly complete control, adding two more goals to round off a fine win despite Derwent’s late consolation goal.
Halifax 3 - 2 Langwith
Richards (2)
Langwith showed their fighting spirit and no lack of class to recover from their 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Vanburgh last week and come within moments of recording a credible draw against Halifax. The pitch again was nigh on unplayable but the game went ahead and Halifax looked to attack from the off and bolster their goal difference in what was billed as an easy game.
The reality was a very tightly fought and well contested affair which was eventually decided by a Richards goal described bt eye-witnesses as a “miss-hit”, though he himself is adamant that it was an intentional lob. Regardless the last minute winner secured Halifax a hard-earned victory and keeps any title aspirations they might harbour alive.
Goodricke 4 - 0 Wentworth
Coupland (3), Smith
Whether the change of pitch or the addition of a manager, Wentworth looked a much more organised, coherent unit and the final scoreline did not accurately reflect play. While they did not pose too many attacking threats to an impressive Goodricke defence, Wentworth were not outclassed or outfought. As cohesive as Wentworth were, Goodricke did not click at all, with the majority of attacking passes going astray, but thanks to a Dave Coupland hat-trick the result was rarely in doubt.
James 1 - 0 Vanbrugh
James fought through the mud to record a vital victory against Vanbrugh, who failed to follow up their demolition of Langwith last week with a positive result. As always seems to be the case, the poor playing surface was not conducive to flowing football, but James’ victory keeps them in the hunt for the title this term and Vanbrugh will be hoping to bounce back next week from this disappointing loss.

Just to throw a little petrol on the fire... did anyone notice the nature of that 'late consolation goal' and who scored it. Thought so, yeah it was pretty fucking special! Clarky: "best goal this side of the century"
just though it was worth a mention and a nod to a little known right winger for Derwent... lets just call him 'Sen -the cutlery- Bmith'
Thanks. one more thing, what about those door knobs eh!?
love Oliver Lester
