Nap: Man United to win the Champions League at Evens (Betfair)
I am afraid this highly billed final between the best two sides in Europe will fizzle out into a major anti-climax. Why you ask? Because of Barca's injuries and lack of form and Man United's complete lack of either. Indeed they will miss Fletcher, whose hilarious sending off would have denied him a starting place, but United will go into the final at full strength on the back of winning their 11th Premiership title. Barcelona have secured La Liga but a poor showing, albeit with a weakened team, saw them lose at the weekend and injuries to key defenders and Henry and Iniesta, will severely jeopardise their chances next Wednesday.
I have included this selection now rather than next week as I think Man U will shorten as home punters began to lump on closer to the event. I would love to see Barca win, but English teams are very good at winning tough games and Barca's defence is incredibly vulnerable. Even money is a great price and so is 2.78 for the 90 minutes. 3pt Win
Seano's Shouts: Justin Leonard at 26/1 to win the Byron Nelson and the BNP not to win a seat at the Euro elections at 2.6 (Betfair)
Justin Leonard has found his consistency of the 1990s this year, with great showings in several events including a T5th last week. He has 4 Top 20 finishes in this event and his straight hitting will serve him well on a course that favours accuracy. Mickelson is struggling with his ball striking and an otherwise weak field gives Leonard a great chance. 1pt Win
Much is being made in the present political climate about the rise of minor parties and in particular the BNP, whilst the expenses scandal trundles on. Indeed there will increase their vote on 2004's haul of 4%, but they will need at least double that to take a seat. Owing to the sparsity and regionalism of the Electoral boundaries for European seats it is difficult for minor parties to do well (as Mike Smithson analyzes over at political betting). Protest votes from the fall out over expenses are more likely to go to UKIP rather than the BNP. Unless a tremendous amount of support goes their way, 2.6 should provide a nice little winner. 1pt Win
Horse: Super Sleuth to win the Irish 1000 Guineas at 6.6 (Betfair)
This maiden filly had a great finish at the Stan James 1000 Guineas following an impressive third at Newmarket. The soft ground at the Curragh should suit her and an antepost 6.6 should shorten on raceday. 1pt Win
Outsider: Newcastle, Man U and Portsmouth to win at 20.49/1 (Sky Bet)
The last day of the season always produces strange results as only a few sides have positions to play for. First in this treble is Newcastle who, despite the leadership of their self adopted messiah Alan Shearer, are still in the mire at the foot of the table. They play an apathetic Villa who were dispatched by Fulham last week as they seem to settle for 6th place. With all to play for expect the Toon to rise to the occasion and possibly escape survival. Secondly Man U travel to Hull and will definitely field a weakened side, but still one that will be far too strong for their opponents. United's strength in depth is impressive and although many players will be rested the likes of Welbeck and Rafael will be strong enough. Finally Portsmouth meet Wigan who in recent games have scored as much as Jay out of the Inbetweeners. Bruce's men are waiting for the season to end and Pompey are in fine fettle after a win last weekend. I know a treble is always a risk but if you want a gamble then go for these 3 selections. 1pt Win
