Diego gets müllered (not for the first time) and Spain reach the semis (for the first time, definitely)

Vincente Del Bosque
Vicente Del Bosque: Is there a man attached to that moustache?
Monday, 5th July 2010
Saturday saw the Semi Final line-up completed for World Cup 2010. Diego Maradona's blue and white pom-poms fell from his fat, greasy paws and slid pathetically to the floor as Argentina were hammered 4-0 by Germany, while Spain beat Paraguay to reach the semis for the first time in history.

Suddenly, England spirits aren't quite so Jogi Löw. In an intense and staggering display of counter-attacking football, the Germans did to Demichelis exactly what they did to England's Brave John Terry (EBJT). In an afternoon game that saw Argentina fail to create a single decent chance (excluding a correctly disallowed goal), and saw Thomas Müller open the scoring in the third minute, there was always the fear that the Argies were doomed.

In similar style to the knockout round, Germany bursted forward with blistering pace throughout the second half, and won 4-0. Special praise should be reserved for Miroslav Klose, who is now just a goal behind THE Ronaldo in the all-time World Cup scoring charts. His two goals made sure that Maradona will be cracking open the whacky baccy in the coming days.

The evening game saw Spain take on Paraguay. It was a surprisingly tight game, and Paraguay deserved to at least go to extra time, but eventually David Villa got impatient and knocked in the winner with eight minutes to go. Spain have now played and beaten more former colonies than non-former colonies (if that makes sense), which effectively means they've been playing against Spain reserves for most of the tournament doesn't it? Paella for thought, methinks.

Finally, does anyone else think that Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque looks like one of the characters from the video to 'Starlight' by the Supermen Lovers? Evidence is offered below. If you don't agree, it's still a top tune, so leave me alone.

Watched the video. I see it... I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
