- Doctor Who has been commissioned for a fourteen more episodes starring Matt Smith, but the air date of the episodes remains a mystery, leading to speculation that 2012 could be another specials year like 2009. A BBC spokesperson later said that a “good chunk” of the fourteen episodes would be airing next year. The sixth series will return for six more episodes this autumn.
- MTV have opted to cancel the US version of Skins. The American remake of the teen drama aired earlier this year to abysmal ratings and the news of its cancellation is rather unsurprising.
- HBO and BBC Two are to remake the iconic 1970s series I, Claudius. The original series was based on a novel written by Robert Graves, but the new version will be based on two other novels written by the author about the famous Roman Emperor.
- Laurence Fishburne has left CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He has decided not to renew his contract with the drama after spending two-and-a-half seasons as a member of its cast.
- The BBC are making a new version of Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations. This latest adaptation is expected to air at Christmas, and Ray Winstone and Douglas Booth have already been cast.
- On Monday, Nicole Scherzinger officially replaced Cheryl Cole as the fourth judge on the panel for Fox’s US version of The X Factor, while filming has begun on the UK version of the show. This year's judging panel will be Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos.
- Phil Davies (Sherlock, Bleak House) and Gemma Jones (Harry Potter, Bridget Jones’s Diary) will both be guest stars in the new series of Merlin, which is expected to air later in the year.
- Fox have also officially announced that Glee’s Jane Lynch will host this year’s Emmy Awards Ceremony.

- A new episode of Agatha Christie’s Marple airs on Wednesday at 8pm on ITV1. Julia McKenzie is back as the knitting detective in a version of Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, even though Miss Marple wasn’t in the original novel.
- The finale of the third season of Fringe airs on Sky1 at 10pm this Wednesday.
- Acclaimed conspiracy thriller The Shadow Line reaches its conclusion on Thursday at 9pm on BBC2.
- Season 1 of Castle is airing from the very beginning, starting this Friday at 9pm on Channel 5.
- Mini series The Kennedys will be airing on BBC2 at 9pm on Friday.
- The fifth season of serial-killer drama Dexter will be premiering at 10pm this Friday on FX.
