The last episode of this series sees Sherlock and Moriarty attempt to solve the final problem with devastating consequences.
With major cast changes afoot, Jacob Martin ponders whether Being Human can live up to its own scarily high standard.
- Best dance: Back in Broadway week, Jason danced a camp, disco tango to ‘I Will Survive’ – and it was marvellous. His attacking, intense style suited the dance perfectly, and he looked utterly at ease with Kristina’s brilliant choreography. This is one of the dances he’s repeating in the final, and I can’t wait to see it again.
- Worst dance: Jason’s rumba was a prime example of why we are constantly reminded that it is a HARD DANCE FOR MEN. Awkward and a little bit dull, it didn’t offer him any chance to shine or use the skills he does have in his arsenal.
- Should he win? A talented dancer with a strong work ethic and an excellent teacher and choreographer in the form of Kristina, Jason has pulled off some frankly brilliant routines. Unfortunately, his drive and intensity can get the better of him, and he just lacks the consistency of the other two finalists. Which is all a polite way of saying: oh, those facial expressions! When I’m old and grey, I’ll still be haunted by his serial killer face. Or, even worse, his “I’M HAVING FUN” face.
- Best dance: Harry has pulled off some absolutely stunning ballroom dances, but I think my favourite is his Viennese waltz. Aliona’s restrained choreography and sweet song choice allowed him to really shine, and shine he did, dancing with elegance, grace and ease to produce a truly memorable dance.
- Worst dance: In fact, Harry’s Viennese waltz looked so effortless that it’s easy to underestimate just how much he’s improved. But looking at his foxtrot from the very start of the competition shows just how much he’s improved his hold and footwork, while managing to look much less like he’s marking some of the moves.
- Should he win? He sometimes lacks a bit of attack and passion (so middle class), although that’s certainly improved greatly, and I’m slightly concerned about the American Smooth since Aliona’s attempt to make it edgy last year didn’t exactly work (HOOOOO NEWWWWW YOOOORRRRK!) But that’s really just splitting hairs, as he’s a lovely dancer who would most certainly be a worthy winner.
- Best dance: Well, many people would say her jive or her quickstep, and I wouldn’t argue with either of those choices. But, despite the sticky running splits moment, I just can’t help absolutely adoring her American Smooth. Beautiful, elegant and with unbelievable arm placement, it had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
- Worst dance: She’s probably been the most consistent of all the dancers as she really hasn’t had any completely terrible dances, but her early Latin, like her salsa, had some pretty unrestrained, sloppy moments. And those fringed trousers were an abomination.
- Should she win? While I wouldn’t be sorry to see Harry win, my personal pick is Chelsee. Sure, her dancing can be a bit uncontrolled and lacking in balance at times, but all of her dancing has a natural flair and charm about it that Jason lacks and Harry only sometimes manages. And her partnership with Pasha (lovely, sweet, adorable Pasha) is the strongest left. When she reaches her full potential, her dancing is just such a joy to watch that I’d love to see her lift that glitter ball trophy.
