Our source, who wishes to remain anonymous but who is part of the production team, revealed that the Glee kids were initaially REAL students taking part in a sociological experiment which has since taken a dark turn.
“Very few of the original participants are left now,” explains our source. “Many refused to accept the conditions of the experiment, so actors had to be brought in to replace them. That’s when we got the idea to make a TV show out of it. That, and the money.”
The experiment’s aims were to examine the role of popular music in teenagers’ lives, and to analyse the power the teenage market has over the success, or otherwise, of artists today. “We formed the club in an American school, and asked them to simply choose a different song every week that they hated and wanted to utterly mock and destroy. We wanted to see how much power one group could have over the whole student body." So what were the results of this experiment? "The kids became so good at their mock-cover versions, and had such influence, that some of them demanded more and more power, until there was a reign of fear over the whole group.” The main culprit, our source claims, is the lead female character, Rachel Berry. “Of course, that’s not her real name. But my God, is that her real character. She’s pulling the strings of all the other Glee kids, and she’s not afraid to use her power to decimate musicians’ reputations and livelihoods with her cruel covers.”
As the Glee-ified versions of songs old and new storm the charts, it remains for the public to curb the damage of this far-reaching experiment by refusing to buy their singles. Even this, however, may not stop them, says our source. “I know for a fact ‘Rachel’ forces the kids to buy and download at least 150 copies each. So I really don’t know what can be done to stop her.”
