Whether it was the wide-spread 'dissertation-blight', 'post-exam flu' or just the fact that January seems like it's never going to end, singles this week were just not up to par. Hopefully these treasures will light up week 3 for you.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm feeling distinctly dull this week. However, Little Ones have made the ordinary seem much more fun in their video for 'Ordinary Song'. It features ordinary people in their ordinary lives, accompanied by the 'Ordinary Song' soundtrack. As a result, the people in the video seem a little happier, a little more colourful and a little brighter as the Little One's lyrics and melody provide some warm fuzzy cheeriness over the radio. Awwww how lovely.

Looking for more of the same? Then look no further. Adele has even managed to inject a little cheer into a video which starts two car crash victims. Oh yes, battle through the initially depressing start until the chorus during which some ingenious choreography and an uplifting melody work together perfectly. The guy and girl who have been involved in the accident sort of come to life (bear with me...) and... well... they dance. Strange? Yes. But even though the end result looks kind of odd at first, the story line is really quite sweet and hopeful.

This week's singles were not, however, all good. Some of them were awful. I'm talking really really bad. Although, I suppose if you are in the right frame of mind (i.e. upset, angry or even downright flippin mental) you may enjoy this next choice. It is (oh, god, I can't believe I'm doing this...) Alter-Bridge 'Ties That Bind'. If this is your cup of tea, then well done to you, but in my opinion it is simply bad head-banging rock that gives me a headache. The video is, possibly, worse, given that it is simple footage from the band's latest tour. 0 points for effort. I suggest those of you who, like me, prefer a nice cup of tea and the latest epoisode of hollyoaks to a night in a scungy mosh-pit, skip to the next video instalment.

Ah, that's better. Rubies, 'I Feel Electric'. This video is colourful, arty and features very funky blinged-out, bikes with neon under-lighting. I'm not a huge fan of the song, to be honest, but my dissertation-bashed brain enjoys the pretty spangly colours. Plus, the party scene at the end fills me with wild dreams of Thursday gallery and fun times, where hopefully they will not be playing anything by Alter-Bridge or similar.
