Singles Club haikus / capture musical essence / in seventeen beats

Record Collection
Monday, 25th May 2009
Now, there's rarely a dull moment here at the Singles Club, and if you needed any proof, here's a case in point... We're celebrating the start of Week 5 by writing about this week's singles in haiku form. Here are five of the best (or so we'd been told – bit of a mixed bunch, in truth) new releases from Little Boots, Eels, Taylor Swift, TV on the Radio and Black Moth Super Rainbow, distilled into short verse.

Little Boots: New in Town

Her synth’s insipid

Yet catchy – I want to scream

Get out of my head

Pete Burgess

Eels: Fresh Blood

Hammer Horror howl

Addictive electric beat

Spine tingling lyrics

Hannah Barrett

Taylor Swift: Teardrops on My Guitar

Swift rings the death knell

While my guitar gently weeps

Turning in the grave

Diggory Dunn

TV on the Radio: Crying

Brooklyn-based five-piece

Smooth-talking, slow burning funk

Perplexing lyrics...

Rich Powell

Black Moth Super Rainbow: Born on a Day the Sun Didn’t Rise

Night-time neonate

Exhales Space Invaders’ Air

Psychedelic, dude

Tom Longstaff

Check into the Singles Club next week for the likes of Kasabian and Pet Shop Boys.
