Video-tastic: The most entertaining of this week's video releases

television
Sunday, 2nd December 2007

Danii Minogue, often described as the edgier Kylie, releases her new single Touch me like that on December 3rd in all it's dance-filled neon glory. It's completely different to Kylie's Two-hearts, which was released a few weeks ago, but just as good. The video is a winning spacey/UV combination, and sets the course for an all-out neon revival. The only drawback is the lack of energy in the video. For a dance track, the accompanying vid seems a bit laid-back. However, maybe more energy would detract from the awesome clothes, especially Danii's amazing PVC bright orange gloves.

If it's energy you're after, however, check out the video to Sister Rose, new single by Ian Brown. It's beautifully shot with some really cool moments (personal favourite bit: at 1:26 when one of the guys is caught in slow-motion doing a back-flip) and even though it's wonderfully simple, the whole thing is pretty intense. The video builds with the music, from the close-up eye shots to the middle action scene to the final wind-down and the first time I watched it I was captivated from start to finish. Very cool.

If action isn't your cup of tea, have a gander at the new video from Foo Fighters to accompany their single Long Road to Ruin. A band with more than a few comedy videos under their belt, and even more hit singles, the Foos know what they're doing, and don't disappoint with this video. Based around the pattern of many of the most cringe-worthy soap operas of the past few decades, the band members star in hospital drama The Long Road to Ruin, full of romantic trials and tribulations, tense moments, and even a cliff-hanger at the end. Even if you aren't a fan of the Foo Fighters' music, the video is worth a look just for a giggle.
