The Yorker's sports team says what they would like for Christmas this year
The second blog for The Yorker from the University of York Riding Club
The Yorker looks at the key moments and fixtures from the second day.
Result of the day – York men’s lacrosse firsts win 17-1
Lancaster just couldn’t stop the York's men's lacrosse side from shooting to a huge victory and the York outfit looked thoroughly impressive as they took the four points they deserved.
Disappointment of the day – rugby union XV women’s firsts lose 48-0
This is a hefty loss for the York girls, who struggled against a strong Lancaster side. The gap could have been a lot bigger too, as Lancaster missed numerous conversions. The York girls will be upset they didn’t manage to get any points on the board too.
Funny moment of the day – at rounders
Down at the rounders, Aimee Howarth reported hearing one of the players saying “I haven’t played rounders for ages!” Inspiring!
Highlight of the day – York wins debating
York’s mixed debating team won 4-0 to take four points for York. Although not exactly a sport, this was a highly anticipated event and it’s good to see York dominating in all areas of the competition.
Club of the day - fencing
Both the men’s and women’s fencing first teams won today, taking a total of eight points for York. The men won by 125-112 and the women by 127-86. Lancaster was victorious in the men’s seconds exhibition match but this doesn’t outweigh the impressive performances by the two firsts teams, who have struggled somewhat in their BUCS leagues this season.
