I am actually quite interested in knowing how high they will go in a couple of years time. Maybe in 2010 it will be cheaper to go in town by taxi than by FTR.
Groups of four from campus to town almost certainly work out cheaper.
It is strange that where most other councils are striving to make public transport more appealing, getting a bus in York is now almost twice as expensive as in London.
IS twice as expensive. With Oyster it's 90p. I resent having to pay for a bus conducter who makes crass jokes and falls on you when the bus jerks.
boycott anyone?
Walk, you lazy bastards. I used to walk to town all the time from campus, it's only 30 minutes. Unless you're going to station with luggage or you're disabled, there's no reason not to really.
I agree the prices are ridonkulous (I seem to remember it was about £1.30 single when I started 4 years ago), but you can easily avoid using the buses.
And from the Micklegate area it's £3.50 for a return!
Re: Mitch. Walking through freezing wind and rain is not always that much fun.
Well then Kathryn, it's up to you to decide whether the comparative fun of the bus outweighs the cost. Or spend all the bus fares you saved on warm clothes
In London you can take the heathrow bus for 90p which goes 21 miles....In York less than 2 miles costs you double this. As ridiculous as these increases are, let me be the first to congratulate first FTR on vastly improving my health this term! I'll be cycling everywhere!
