A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
The Universities Business Challenge (UBC) has been described as "the premier undergraduate business competition in the UK" with nearly 1000 students taking part each year.
Team members Andrew Wells, James Jones, Katie Groom, Suraj Gangani and Laura Williams have been competing against students from all over the country.
Andrew Wells, the team leader, said he believes their success comes from "our recognition of each others' strengths and weaknesses, which enabled us to build complementary and broadly-based skill sets".
The York Management School team has succeeded in making it into the final 10 groups, ahead of other students from top universities such as Warwick, Durham and St Andrews.
The team are just one 'heat' away from the possible 1st prize of £1000.
IMB's UBC aims to develop business related skills within a competitive environment. The battle against other teams is extremely competitive but is advertised as a rewarding scheme to be involved with.
Opportunities to meet other teams as well as possible future employers are given throughout each stage of the competition.
Professor Steven Toms, the Head of the York Management School, said: "All the staff at the Management School are really proud of the students' achievement."
The grand final will take place on Friday 7th March at IBM Bedfont Lakes.
