The AU has continued its AU charitable year by organising the first ever University Sports Relief Mile, with York residents and students alike running one, three or six miles around campus. Meanwhile, AU President Jo Carter ran the London Marathon in an amazing 4 hours 23 minutes and 1 second for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity. (Well done Jo!)
John Grogan, MP for Selby, has signed a pledge by People and Planet to demand a stronger climate change bill. The pledge was a joint project by the university's People and Planet group and Friends of the Earth. It aims to cut emissions by at least 80% by 2050.
The university has warned students to beware of a phishing attack. Emails that seem to come from a legitimate email address are requesting students to divulge log in details. Any such emails should be forwarded to Computing Services.
After last term's price increase on the Ftr Number 4 service to the City Centre, the university have secured a 20% reduction in fares on the following services: 195, X46, X47, 744 and 746.
Weilin Wang, a member of York University Mountaineering Club (YUMC), died after slipping on a patch of wet grass on top of a cliff in Scotland. YUMC Captain Miles Whitehead notified members in an email and took the opportunity to state: "I'd never met her, but everyone who had says that she was a very enthusiastic, and safe climber." He also reminded members that climbing is an "extremely dangerous sport". Our thoughts go out to Weilin's family and friends.

The petting zoo will involve rabbits courtesy of the RSPCA. I told Anne-Marie that I could get hold of some goats for it, but somehow she didn't think that was such a good idea.
