AU President reported to the RSPCA

Goldfish
Goldfish: * although not Richard
Tuesday, 29th April 2008
Jo Carter has been reported to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Current AU President Jo Carter received a phone call at around 10am this morning from the RSPCA concerning her fish, Richard.

The RSPCA received a complaint about the living conditions of Richard. The bowl in which the fish is kept is claimed to be too small and to not supply enough oxygen.

She also found an anonymous note in her office. Both the note and the RSPCA advised Carter to either buy a bigger bowl with an oxygen pump or find Richard a new home.

Despite Roses coming up this weekend, Carter is already taking steps to ensure that Richard is taken better care of.

She said: "It would be very sad if I had to see Richard go."

Richard was given to Carter by a friend last Christmas and has been in the AU office ever since.

Despite the recent complaint, AU office staff say Carter takes good care of Richard, cleaning his bowl at least once or twice a week and feeding him regularly.
