A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
We have since received word that the mural has had to be postponed a further week but will now take place on May 22nd.
After initial delay the Student Action mural proposal was accepted by the university and will begin progress by Vanbrugh walkway.
Student Action Chair Adam Wiles told The Yorker that the mural is designed to "encapsulate York in 2008 and provide an opportunity for all students to participate in something that will enhance the environment of campus."
The mural project also aims to raise the profile of Student Action around the university and encourage students to get involved.
The Student Action group promotes volunteering amongst students at the University of York. Aside from projects such as the mural they also run regular volunteering projects in and around York.
The mural will be drawn on Wednesday 21st May and will be painted on Thursday 22nd from 1pm - 6pm, and Friday 23rd from 10am - 4pm. All students are encouraged to take part, even those with little or no artistic ability.
