Challenge 1: Wednesday: The 12 teams choose and bid for a crate of items. They then had to make the most profits from their product. 'Vortex' selling flannels won the task.
Challenge 2: Thursday: The group had to design and plan a student-run venue. A joint victory was recorded between 'Vortex' and 'Re:Brand'.
Challenge 3: Saturday: This task challenged their Event Management skills. The groups had to organise a minor event in a different bar. 'Re:Brand' had Derwent, 'Vortex' had Vanbrugh and 'As solid as Northern Rock' had Langwith.
Katie Laing from 'Vortex' was asked to sum up her feelings: "Stunned! A team of first years won!" Asked if she was glad she had taken part, Laing said: "Absolutely, yes! The money never even came into it, we've had such team bonding this week, we've even made a team move!"
Henry Smith from 'Re:Brand' said: "I really enjoyed the whole competition, everyone I've worked with has been fantastic, we've all got on so well and had no big arguments."
"A big thanks to every one, to each of our friends as well. Congratulations to Vortex who've been fab competition throughout. Overall we're glad we've put on a good event."
Deej Kapoor from 'As solid as Northern Rock' said: "Fair play to Vortex, it was a hard challenge."

"One word, stunned! A team of first years' won!" - Katie Laing
Why is that shocking? A team of first years won last year. It is a campus event after all - what sort of intake was she expecting?
Interesting end result...it was certainly in the York Entrepreneurs' interests to make sure that northern rock or vortex won - if Rebrand had won, then it would have looked like a popularity contest like last years result did.
I thought it was 'solid as a northern rock'....a lot funnier that way!
"Asked if she was glad she had taken part Laing said: "Absolutely, yes!"
So you asked the winners if they were glad if they had taken part? That's some inspirational journalism
A team of first years have won each year - this shows one thing. Being based on campus with everyone else from your year helps and decides the final challenge.
I believe that, whilst this may seem the case, the fact that the results were so close proves that being based on campus is not that much of a deciding factor. Vortex were considered the underdogs in the competition, with the least experience compared to the other teams, and I think it is highly impressive that they won, and it is very clear that they put in a lot of effort. Well done to them.
Although the competition did not run as smoothly as York Entreprenuers would have liked, it was certainly a lot of fun. It's just a shame that we got knocked out in the semis!
I have to admit, I was very disappointed when I realised that none of us were actually going to be fired by Sir Alan himself.
I think it being based on campus was somewhat of an 'evener' of the teams in the final.
Laura is absolutely right, Vortex put in a lot of effort and deserved to win. They were fantastic throughout the whole competition and were all great to compete against.
If one of us had missed out on the Free Masons gig in Roger Kirk there is no way it would have been this close! It would have been a traversty if the Free Masons had any influence in the outcome!
There were Free Masons in the RK?
