A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.
YUSU Welfare officer Bob Hughes has warned students to be vigilant after a student loans phishing scam has been revealed.
Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
Due to technical problems with our hosting services, the website has experienced relatively frequent down time over the last few weeks and extended down time on Thursday 5th June.
The site has been moved to a new server to avoid further inconveniences. Current issues with pictures should be solved within the next few hours.
Although when visiting The Yorker you will currently get redirected to http://y-ne.ws, this is a deliberate temporary measure and should return to normal within 48 hours.

Kudos for boosting the Samoan economy.
I have a bone to pick with the Yorker...I'm a big fan, and think it represents the future of campus media...HOWEVER - the main advantage you have over Nouse/Vision etc. is that you don't go to print and therefore can be continually updating stories to make sure the site is up to date and has the latest breaking news - so why on earth is there a story on the homepage from March pre-YUSU elections?!?! Do a more recent video-cast, or take the story off the homepage - surely not that difficult?!
