A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning on the riverside path by the Bridge.
The two University of York students, one male and one female, were attacked by four teenagers. Fortunately, neither student suffered serious injuries.
One third year told The Yorker: "I have a friend who lives nearby. We've heard of a few people getting mugged there so now we make her either take a taxi or come home with us."
Manager of Student Support Services Steve Page said: “Whilst York is a relatively safe city, students are reminded to think about their safety and take suitable precautions.”
There was an attack on a friend of mine in Tang Hall too. He ended up with 2 black eyes...
