It's fantastic that the city are putting pressure on the university, hopefully it'll mean they'll listen to them.
The committee criticised the university, citing a lack of progress on environmental issues.
Councillor Waller said he was assured at the meeting “that by the end of the month, there will be a clear indication to the planning committee and the city as to how the university will achieve the target of ten percent”.
He added: “They went to great lengths to explain how the buildings themselves would be built, with high levels of insulation and energy efficiency, and how, in the long term, they are looking to make the whole campus more energy efficient.”
Robyn Heather, chair of the university's People & Planet society, welcomed the decision. She said: "It's fantastic that the city are putting pressure on the university, hopefully it'll mean they'll listen to them, even if they don't listen to their own students with regards to energy on the new campus site."
