Four motions were scheduled to be voted on - the new York Sport logo, a uniform kit using this logo, a universal sponsor for York Sport and changes to the constitution.
Only 24 of the 57 sports clubs attended, in light of the absentees, votes on the constitution and a matching sports kit were rescheduled.
Though it was not voted on, Lacy's proposed universal black and gold kit was discussed. The proposal was heavily criticised and faced strong opposition.
Developed with the help of a ‘focus-group’ and designers Lacy presented the new logo which he said: “took several months trying to get this [the logo] to work but I like it”.
Lacy argued that if all the teams wore the same kit, they would "look more professional and get better results." The presidents of several sports clubs however were concerned about the costs involved with such a move.
Future negotiations are to be held to resolve this monetary issue.
However, the biggest point of controversy was the absence of a University of York logo on the proposed kit. Lacy dismissed to University's involvement in sport, saying: "It’s the SU that organises university sport. The University does nothing."
Lacy explained that the current logo used by many clubs, the University of York crest, is actually copyrighted so a new logo is necessary.
Last on the agenda was the proposal to find a universal sponsor for York Sport. Lacy argued that this would help smaller teams unable to find their own sponsors.
For teams who already have sponsors, Lacy proposed that the universal sponsor could used in addition and not as a replacement.
As concerns over existing rolling sponsorship deals were raised, a clause to opt out was added. Clubs voted in favour of investigating the issue in light of the concerns voiced.
