After experiencing some technical difficulties which delayed the start of the film by 45 minutes as well as sound problems throughout the last half hour of the Twilight viewing last Thursday, the YSC committee tried to find what the problem was.
"A part in the YSC equipment which feeds film to and from the projector (the platter) overheated at some point during last week, and needs replacing before it will work again," said YSC treasurer Tara Gilliam.
"There also appeared to be a fault in one of our front speakers which caused Twilight's sound problem, although we do have a temporary fix for this in place already," she continued.
An engineer will be coming this week to sort out both of the problems and diagnose a root cause if necessary, but for the time being, all film screenings have been cancelled until Friday.
YSC expect to be able to show this Sunday's film, and apologise for the disruption to the advertised schedule.
Gilliam also mentioned that they would greatly encourage anybody disappointed by the cancellations to resubmit a film suggestion via their website for The Tale of Despereaux, Let's Talk About The Rain, Australia or The Secret Life of Bees.
She said: "Given sufficient interest, we may be able to reschedule their screenings for next term."
