Iszi Chew: I’ve been on the RAG Committee for the past year as RAG Mag editor which has given me valuable experience to be RAG officer. This has enabled me to see how the committee functions and I have also worked with many of the other reps on the committee. My role as Flying DCUK co-editor has given me experience in chairing meetings and encouraging students to get involved. Both positions have given me experience in working towards and meeting deadlines.
Helen Fry: RAG representative for Derwent JCRC 2008, RAG Ents representative 2009 (RAG Love etc.), Eco representative for Derwent JCRC 2009, 2nd year representative for College Council.
Zoë Stones: RAG Parade Coordinator 2009, Vice Chair of Goodricke JCRC 2009, YUSU Student Trustee, Vision Culture Editor 2008, Social Secretary for University Symphony Orchestra 2008/9
IC: I am running because I am really passionate about RAG. I’ve been involved with it throughout my time at university and being RAG officer is the perfect opportunity for me to get involved as much as I possible can. York RAG is gaining more of a presence on campus so I would love the opportunity to improve this and also expand its reputation by getting more involved in university-wide events such as Mega Raids.
HF & ZS: We're both passionate about RAG, the students that support it and the beneficiaries we raise money for. We've thoroughly enjoyed our time in RAG and are both really excited by the future possibilities for fundraising on (and off) campus. We make a great team and feel that we can do a lot for RAG - not only in raising more money, but also improving the student experience by increasing involvement and the fun element!
IC: I have the relevant skills, experience and drive to fulfil this position to a high standard. My policies are realistic and can be achieved. I will give my all to make York RAG as amazing as possible!
HF & ZS: Our combination of commitment, experience and drive to make RAG a great experience for all means that we really can do the best job for everyone who has or hasn't been involved with RAG before. We've got some really exciting ideas, including a record-break attempt in Freshers' Week, and we have even vowed to do a live performance on stage at Woodstock if we are elected...
IC: Got involved in RAG. I’ve met loads of people through being on the committee and I’ve had a lot fun participating in parades, going to events and supporting RAG whenever I can. Seeing the two RAG Mags which I’ve put together in print all around campus has definitely been a highlight!
HF & ZS: Undoubtedly, our achievements in RAG Week (Zoe as Parade Coordinator and Helen as Ents Rep). The RAG Parade was a tremendous success, with a turnout of around 500 students and a total of more than £3100 on just the one day, the months of preparation and planning were really worth it. On the same day, our 700 sell out event in The Courtyard, RAG Love, had to turn down queues of people without tickets, raised a phenomenal amount of money and kindled lots of RAG love both old and new. Considering that RAG lacks the core support base of colleges, this really was an outstanding turn-out.
IC: Avoiding work by eating too much junk food whilst watching Gilmore Girls; this usually happens after a night out, especially Club Ds.
HF & ZS: You gotta love the punch…
