Claudia, a chef at Goodricke College, has now been missing for seven weeks. Just over a week ago, police announced that a young woman had been seen on Claudia’s route to work, standing with a man wearing a dark hooded top, at 5.35am on Thursday 19th March.
The police believe this woman could haven been Claudia Lawrence. Her father, Peter Lawrence, had hoped members of the public would come forward wih more information on this sighting, but so far no one has.
At a press conference this morning, Peter Lawrence said: "I spoke to the police just two minutes ago. They told me nobody at all has come forward and I just find that incredible."
He added: "There was a very good description of that man and somebody must know who he is. There aren’t going to be many people of that description in Melrosegate at 5.30am in the morning."
Mr Lawrence also said he was disappointed that the £10,000 reward offered by Crimestoppers has not led to any significant new information.
He said: "I find it strange that people need an incentive to give information, but we live in a world where they do and I’m disappointed there hasn’t been more response."
On Saturday Mr Lawrence launched a new website to help the search for his daughter - findclaudia.co.uk. The website has pictures and posters of Claudia, contact information to help with the appeal and the Archbishop of York’s Prayer for Claudia and Madeleine McCann.
Anyone who has information to help the inquiry is urged to phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
