McQ’s annual beer and cider festival

McQs
Thursday, 5th May 2011
This week sees McQ’s fling open its doors for its annual beer and cider festival.

The bar will offer over twelve different kinds of ales and four different types of cider, which will be priced at £2.90 per pint, and they will be available every evening throughout the week.

There will be loyalty cards and other freebies, such as t-shirts, on offer and many prizes to win.

The culmination of the festival comes on Friday when the 'Lock In' event will take place, featuring a live DJ.

The bar’s manager Polly Middlehurst talked to The Yorker of the uniqueness of this type of event on campus and said that "great beer, great atmosphere and great fun" were just some of the reasons why students should come along to this event.

It has been popular with students so far this week, with a lively atmosphere being created by the substantial number of students attending.

Hopefully the success of this event will be seen as a further reason to keep McQ's open, following plans last term for it to be shut down and moved to the Roger Kirk centre. As yet there have been no further developments.

Tickets for Friday night's 'Lock In' will be available from McQ's bar during opening hours throughout week 1 and 2 but are limited.
