The spokesmen added that nobody had been arrested in connection with the Goodricke chef's disappearance. Rumours that circulated the city, including claims that Claudia's body had been found in the cellar of the pub, were dismissed as "completely unfounded".
Certain items were removed from the pub during the search, and will be tested as part of the inquiry. It is the second time police have searched the Nag's Head, which is Claudia's local pub and one she visited regularly before her disappearance.
Landlord George Forman said: "The police have searched hundreds of properties in York and The Nag's Head is just one of them. We have no objections and we’re doing everything we can to help the police find Claudia."
Police community support officers were standing at the entrance to the Nag's Head from 9am, and the pub remained closed until 4pm, at which time crime scene investigators came out, wearing blue plastic gloves and carrying brown bags.
Police said the search "is in addition to a search of the premises which took place on March 28 and forms an integral part of the overall search strategy which has been, and will continue to be, a central factor to the investigation."
Martin Dales, a spokesman for Claudia’s father, Peter Lawrence, said: "Peter is very pleased that the police continue to make such thorough investigations because every piece in this million piece jigsaw helps."
Claudia was last seen on 18th March and today marks exactly three months since she disappeared. Police are treating the case as a suspected murder and Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.
Anyone who has information to help the inquiry is urged to phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
