Claudia has been missing since March this year and the police stated that this latest search was part of an "ongoing and continuously developing investigation."
A spokeswoman said the search was, "A result of the information and material gathered during what is a broad-ranging investigation and is one of several carried out during the course of the investigation."
A spokesman for the university, where Claudia worked as a chef at the Roger Kirk Centre, said: "Since Claudia went missing, the university has offered every assistance it can to the police in the search for Claudia. We also continue to offer our support to Claudia's family."
This latest development in the search for Claudia came after the return to North Yorkshire of four officers sent to Cyprus to interview eight British expatriates acquainted with her. Claudia had previously visited the island for a number of holidays and it is believed she was planning to return at a date soon after she went missing.
Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway, who is leading the investigation, said: "Significant progress has been achieved in terms of completing our knowledge of Claudia's contacts on the island and, most importantly, any involvement or knowledge that they had in relation to Claudia’s disappearance."
All men interviewed by police were treated as witnesses and have not been regarded as suspects. Steve Sammons, who was the last person to have been in contact with Claudia through a text message, was one of the men questioned.
Mr Sammons said that the Police had contacted him in Cyprus very soon after Claudia's disappearance, explaining: "I was the last person to text her – I think they are trying to cover all angles."
He added: "I texted her about coming over here to Cyprus; she wanted a break. She was thinking about coming here about ten days after her disappearance." He stated that he and Claudia were just good friends, who had drunk in the Nags Head pub in Heworth and gone on holiday together, but had never been in a relationship.
He said he hoped that if anyone was holding her they would, "See how her family and friends are and let her go." He also said he hopes she is safe and well and, "Turns up for her friends, family and for everybody. At the end of the day, I want my friend to return. I would like to see her back."
Anyone who has information to help the inquiry is urged to phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
