A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
Wendy, who turned 20 last month, was a student in the department of History of Art and a member of Halifax College. The university said they were "deeply saddened" by her death and Professor Mark Hallett, Head of the Department of History of Art, said: "Wang Jiang Ning, known as Wendy, was funny, warm-hearted and much loved by her fellow students. She was a thoughtful, diligent and insightful student who had a particular passion for Victorian art. Her smile and determination to succeed will be greatly missed."
The accident occurred on the A64 between York and Tadcaster at around 2:40am on Sunday morning. Wendy died soon afterwards after being taken to hospital. A second woman aged 21, whose name is not yet known, was also involved in the accident. She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died on Tuesday.
Tien Cheng, who is 28 years old, has been charged with dangerous driving in connection with the crash. He appeared at York Magistrates' Court on Monday and will appear at York Crown Court on 7th December. Another man, aged 39, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving, but has been released on unconditional police bail pending further enquiries.
