Shetty beat off competition from Jordan Abbott, Faye Dobson and Nick Hall in one of the college’s most contested positions. He told The Yorker: "I look forward to chairing what looks to be an extremely strong Vanbrugh JCRC. Although still slightly surreal, there are clearly various issues facing Vanbrugh and I look forward to dealing with them with the support of the new JCRC."
Shetty was full of praise for the outgoing JCRC and complimentary of this year's candidates, adding: "It is also important at this stage to truly appreciate the hard work and success of the current committee led by Dani Fill, and thank them for their commitment to the college. Given how competitive our elections were this year it is also worth commending everyone who has made it onto the committee this year, as well as everyone who contested a position. Vanbrugh is clearly one of the strongest colleges on campus in various respects, and in leading the new committee I will try and offer continuity to these successes whilst attempting to better the College."
Anne Ly and Steph Northcott, who worked together last year as Ents Representatives, were elected as the college's new Vice-Chairs, defeating third candidate Guy Wallace. The position of Treasurer, which saw four candidates running, was claimed by second-year Economics student Kate Gibson.
There are still a number of vacant positions which will be contested in by-elections next term. In addition to three Ex-Officio Member positions being available, the roles of Off-Campus Representative, Equipment Representatives, 21+ Representative and Disability Representative still need filling.
