A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
Formerly a paid officer with the GSA, Cousins states that he still intends to be a presence around the GSA, despite his official removal from the association. He told the Association Council that he had immensely enjoyed his time in the GSA. Taking responsibility for his step down, Cousins also stated his intention to make sure the transition within the GSA of a new officer into his old position is a smooth and easy one.
As well as contesting this newly empty seat, nominations have been open for other vacant positions on the GSA since 29th January. The positions of Ordinary Trustee, and International Students Officer are also up for election.
The GSA Chair, Matt Glover, has expressed his gratitude to Cousins on behalf of the GSA for the “dedication” he has shown in his time in the role and the “valuable contribution” he made to the efforts of the GSA.
The GSA has also seen change in its management, with Duncan Lean taking the position of permanent General Manager.
Nominations for the upcoming GSA by-elections close on Monday 15th February. Hustings will be on Wednesday and voting will take place between Friday 19th and February 26th.
