Rumours have been flying and whispered down the grapevine about the closure of Tru nightclub and the end of the "Trusday" era. However, it seems at least for one more night - tonight, Trusday is upon us once again.
Prior to the recent confirmation that Tru is indeed open tonight, there have been contradictory reports on the closure of Tru. Though YUSU released a statement on their website announcing that Tru would no longer be open on Tuesdays due to the club being sold, a spokesman for Luminar Leisure told The Press: "Luminar have been approached about the sale of Tru nightclub. No decision has been reached and we are currently considering the offer and consulting with our staff regarding the matter. We have no plans to close the club after May".
In response, Democracy and Services Officer Lewis Bretts told The Yorker: "I've been told on multiple occasions by the Tru manager that the deal had gone through and was informed that the club would not be opening on a Tuesday - perhaps this is a negotiating tactic by Luminar to try and improve the sale. I think Salvation have put together a great offer and I think students are set for a great Tuesday night."
In any case, while the future of Tru remains somewhat uncertain, right now students have at least one more Trusday night out to look forward to.

Shouldn't this "story" carry a tagline:
"Paid for by Luminar"
This is a complete non-story, and it appears conflicting interests in the editorial team have got in the way of journalistic integrity. This is yet another example of the decline seen in The Yorker over the last few years.
I am glad that none of our YUM regulated societies would be allowed to publish such blatantly paid for pieces.
This article demonstrates the importance of having an independent student media outlet on campus. Nouse and Vision have been bigging up Salvation, which, let's be honest, isn't great as proven by its attempted Ziggy's coup. I, for one, am relieved to know that there are still other options for a night out, and that the Yorker hasn't fallen into Yusu's trap and used this story as an opportunity to advertise Salvation.
Also, Tru IS open tonight - don;t YUSU have a contract with them to send Uni of York students to Tru? Or has that contract been terminated and recommenced with Salvation?
"I am glad that none of our YUM regulated societies would be allowed to publish such blatantly paid for pieces."
hahahahaha
Like #3 says, Nouse and Vision have been "bigging up" Salvation. If you 're looking for biased pieces...
And has anyone else noticed the glaringly bad spelling mistake on the Salvation flyers around campus?
What is the problem? This article sets out facts that The Yorker have available to them.
More than can be said for some YUM affiliations....
