Flash Freeze! for the Global Poverty Project’s Presentation

1.4 Billion Reasons
Friday, 21st May 2010
A flashmob is expected to descend on Vanbrugh Paradise today to hold a 15 minute pause for thought. True to the nature of flashmobs, an exact start time is as of yet unknown. However, the event is scheduled to happen some time between 1.15 pm and 2 pm.

The University of York’s People and Planet group has organised a flash freeze in a bid to raise awareness for the Global Poverty Project’s 1.4 Billion Reasons presentation. The groundbreaking presentation, which is due to take place next Thursday on 27 May, is to be hosted by Simon Moss (co-founder of GPP) and the university’s People and Planet group. The time and venue for presentation is 7.00 pm in L/047 at Langwith College.

1.4 Billion Reasons was inspired by Al Gore’s film on climate change (‘An Inconvenient Truth’) and launched at a high-level UN Summit in 2008 by expert advisors, one of whom was Hugh Jackman. It demonstrates that progress in addressing extreme poverty has been made and means to re-inspire and equip individuals to make change happen through action. The presentation will be shown to more than 40, 000 people across the UK this year.
