A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
The teams were given a choice of products and a location where they would attempt to sell their product.
Both locations and products varied vastly. Some teams were sent to Scarborough, Doncaster and Hull, while others stayed in York, on campus and in the city.
Products the teams were selling ranged from Team Zeal’s camping/ festival kit, Team Laboratorium’s beach towel-cum-bag, to Team Fiat’s digital pens, which can record everything you write and convert it into word text in the computer.
The challenge managed to raise around £300-£400, with Team Zeal making the most money.
According to York Entrepreneurs’ Society Co-President Matthew Freckelton, Team We’re Going to Keith chegWIN and Team Laboratorium both showed solid teamwork. He also said that the teams had improved overall over the past two days.
“After working a day with each other, all the teams are now more able to tailor to each other when working together,” said Freckelton.
Team Fiat and Team Forte were eliminated in today’s round, leaving only six teams in the competition.
