Laura Nero and Mollie Liesner, lead choreographers, feel they will bring an exciting and interesting range of dance to the show, incorporating “street, hip-hop, ballet, jazz” and more. They are eager to build upon the great reputation Happily Ever After Society has built following the success of High School Musical last year and Grease the year before.
Lisa Grijzenhout and Charlie Rowley, producers for “Return to the Forbidden Planet”, are bringing a blend of old and new to the production. Lisa worked backstage on Grease, and produced High School Musical last year, whereas this will be Charlie’s first Central Hall production. Being the “newbie”, Charlie feels that he can “relate to people auditioning in that respect”, as this year has seen many new actors and dancers getting involved with the show. The directors, Arjun Kharpal and Dan Chatfield, discussed why they went for the role of director, securing the position after an interview and giving a proposal for their production’s vision. Arjun explained how he and Dan were initially drawn to the play, and that they “fell in love with the script almost immediately....with all the quirky characters.” Dan summed up his philosophy regarding Happily Ever After Society, and how the show adheres to it; “Happily Ever After Society has this big ethos where they have to have a show with a happy ending...a nice feel-good feeling. “Return to the Forbidden Planet” really brings that in, especially with big musical numbers like Great Balls of Fire and Born to Be Wild, which are really high energy and really make people smile.”
The show will take place in Week 5, Autumn Term in Central Hall. Make sure to get your tickets!
