Club Salvation reopens on Thursday night

Salvation Bar
Tuesday, 10th August 2010
Club Salvation will be reopening on 12th August following a fire at the club two weeks ago.

According to Salvation Promotion Manager Marc Lawrence, the club's staff have been working "very hard to get the club back to normal, if not better".

"We are having a great time doing it; sometimes too much fun", Lawrence told the Yorker.

With the club set to reopen this week, students of York will have much to look forward to when they return in October.

Many students have expressed their relief that the club will be re-opening.

Martin Ferry, who will be a second-year when he returns in October, described the club closing due to the fire as a "premature end" to his relationship with it.

"I’m glad Salvation's reopening as York doesn’t have many clubs and its one of the best ones," said Naomi Bright, another York student.

Salvation staff have been putting in a lot of effort to prepare for the return of York students. Lawrence said: "We are very excited about the students returning to York and we have some awesome nights planned for them, starting with a mad Fresher’s week."

Salvation has been closed since Saturday 31st July, when a fire broke out in the club's smoking area at 4am. Firefighters from across Yorkshire were called to the nightclub, and had the flames extinguished by 6:45am. The smoking area was severely damaged along with offices on the second and third floor, but there was very little damage to the main part of the club on the ground floor.

The club are treating the incident light-heartedly and are reopening with a fire theme.
