A group of York students has won the opportunity to have their very own I-phone application developed after winning The App Challenge final, held at the Ron Cooke Hub on Wednesday, January 18.

Her Majesty the Queen will be visiting York on Maundy Thursday, 5th April, as part of the 800th anniversary of York’s Charter for the traditional “Royal Maundy” ceremony.
A flood caused by a heating system “failure” forced the university IT services to shut down many essential systems on Sunday night, causing problems for many students on the eve of their exams and assignment due-dates.
The attack took place on Wednesday, 10th October at 3AM. One student was left with a cut to the hand while another had his wallet stolen. The attacker initially wore a balaclava but took it off during the attack, which allowed one of the students to provide the police with a description.
Earlier that night, two men also wearing balaclavas robbed a 19-year old male of his wallet and phone. The police believe that the two attacks may be connected.
The perpetrator of the later attack is described as white, 16 to 20 years old, about 5ft 9in tall and of skinny build, with blond hair and a very pale complexion.
In related news, York Council recently released figure suggesting that crime has dropped dramatically in the area over the last three years, with the only increase in crime being for bike thefts.
